Kaaterskill Market opened on Main Street in Catskill, NY in 2020, a shop built around goods made by hand, from natural materials, designed to last a lifetime rather than be forgotten after a season.

I spent 15 years in the fashion industry as a designer, buyer, and merchandiser, exploiting every trend and convincing people that they needed the latest version of the coolest thing. Then I burned out and started dreaming of a different kind of business, built around things worth keeping. I'd had enough. Not of beautiful objects, but of the churn of trends, the toxic materials, the disposability of it all. I wanted to use my experience for something that would last.

Baskets are at the center of what we do, and I believe them to be the perfect object. Made by hand, full of history, plant material woven into something strong and satisfying to hold. Useful every single day, whether you're hauling groceries, harvesting flowers, doing laundry, or just keeping the living room from looking like a disaster. A basket ages well. It gets better with use. That's the whole philosophy in one object.

Everything else we offer follows the same logic. Natural materials. Honest utility. Made by someone who cares if it works. We prioritize makers in the Hudson Valley and New York for the things that are beautifully made close to home, candles, ceramics, bath and body care. What we can't source nearby, we source through our artisan partners.
